PDC Webinar: An Inside-Outside Approach for Building Customized Business Development Training Progra

This program presents case studies of two business development training programs (one for associates and the other for partners) that were collaboratively developed with an outside consultant and internal BD and PD professionals.

In the program, we will discuss the competencies chosen, the inside-outside co-development process, program delivery, the assignment of actions steps, and techniques for follow-up to drive behavior.

    • David shows lawyers how to become high impact rainmakers so they can attract great clients, increase their income, contribute more to their firms, and have deeply fulfilling careers. He is a member of the National Law Journal Hall of Fame for regularly being voted the #1 business development consultant and coach, he is a former practicing lawyer from New York, and he is a two-time best-selling author. David has authored 14 books on law firm business development and leadership, and for 28 years he has trained and coached over 10,000 lawyers and leaders in hundreds of firms worldwide (including nearly ½ of the Am Law 200).
  • Carole Deeter, Professional Development Manager, Thompson Hine
    • Carole Deeter is the immediate past president of CALPA, the Chicago city group for law firm professionals, and she serves on the associate board for a Chicago children’s literacy non-profit. Carole received her Master of Arts Degree in Training and Development from Roosevelt University in May 2020.  She approaches attorney training with a focus on adult learning principles and tries to include lessons learned from her previous career in performing arts administration whenever possible.
  • Lori Gauld, Director of Learning Initiatives, Osler
    • Lori is a Toronto-based leadership and learning development professional. As a certified learning designer with a master’s certificate in organizational development and an interest in educational technology, her focus is on building engaging, purposeful participant experiences.  She has presented on a wide variety of leadership and education topics, and has facilitated strategic planning and group decision-making events for industry groups and international associations. Currently Director, Learning Initiatives at Osler, Hoskin, Harcourt LLP, Lori has worked in a number of roles and industries, including instructional designer at the corporate university of a large bank; and leadership consultant, then manager of both the Simulation Centre and Student Centre at an academic teaching hospital.   Lori is a member of the Professional Development Consortium, and previously acted as co-chair of the eLearning Alliance of Canadian Hospitals and was a board member for ACCORD, an organizational development professionals group.
